Full pastry coverage for Casa Irrera — cakes, desserts and product detail shot in Messina.
← Back to PhotographyA short-term relationship built around one editorial shoot for a magazine feature — product and finished-dessert photography for Casa Irrera, an established Sicilian high pastry house. About two and a half hours on site, on a Sony A7 IV, with flash bounced rather than fired direct: enough control to hold texture and colour consistently across a dozen different desserts without flattening any of them under hard light.
The first real decision on a shoot like this isn't the angle — it's the background. Every dish gets read for what colour and surface will make its own texture and palette read clearly before a single frame is shot, because a background that works for a pale almond pastry will usually kill a dark chocolate one. The goal throughout was communicating product quality, detail and identity — the kind of image a magazine can run at size and still have the surface hold up.
For places whose architecture, atmosphere and identity deserve to be seen together.
